Swimmers focus more on self-promotion and ask themselves 'How do I sell myself and get myself positioned to get the promotion?'" 6. Leadership must develop upon the trail of a positive attitude and outlook. Individuals such as the thief do not make entire leaders because they blame their problems upon everyone else. Taking responsibility and a positive outlook, are needed for leadership development.

8. Leaders must be held accountable for their actions. Those who are not held accountable for their actions, such as the veteran cop, are given too much power over others.

By holding leaders accountable, we are able to make certain that they are not only leading well, but working well.
