Introduction Before 1917 Russia was ruled by a monarchy called the Romanov Tsars. In this meter there was an enormous divide between the very pie-eyed and the very poor. With no government help, the peasants used medieval-like technology on their farms such as man-powered wooden ploughs, making their productivity very low. With very little food produce from the farms, famines were shop around Russia. However, this all changed when in November 1917 there was a communistic revolution. The revolution, led by Vladimir Lenin, was a success and the Communists came to power. During the early months of the recent communist reign, peasants were allowed to seize and keep their landlords lands.
