1. Definition of an organization
An organization is defined as two or more battalion, working together hand and glove within identifiable boundaries, to accomplish a common name and address or objective. There are four concepts:
• Organizations are made up of people – organizations are composed of people and groups of people.
People interact with each other to perform demand functions in organizations.
• The necessity of division of labor – organizational tasks are deliberately subdivided into separate departments and sets of activities. The deliberate structure is use to coordinate and direct separate groups and departments.
• Organizations have identifiable boundaries – all organizations have boundaries that separate them from other organizations. Membership is distinct. The demarcation line determines who and what is inside or outside the organization.
