The patient I chose was K.P. a 28 year old single staminate who was brought to the Emergency Room from Purgatory, where hed been acting psychotic. He wasnt sleeping, due to his anxiety, and had been banging his head in his immure cell, and his sternum on the toilet. He was smearing feces all over himself and was just not taking care of himself. The patient was often epochs found hiding under his bed in the cell, refusing to answer out and talking to himself. K.P. was diagnosed in the past with paranoid schizophrenia. He was on Haldol and Seroquel. He has poor judgment, paranoia, suspiciousness, and auditory hallucinations. He has stabilized during his time on Behavioral Med and is being transferred to the doh State hospital on March 13th.
When I inaugural got to the unit, I researched every patient in the main booklet that is used for reports that has the most recent and basic cultivation on every patient along with their photo. Then I looked at each patients chart and learned a little more somewhat why each patient was there and what medications they were taking. I went to report where we learned a little more about each patient.
During some of the down time I watched a video about EPS and learned about each of the dissimilar types and what the symptoms looked like. The nurse also gave me a list of common foothold used to describe assessment findings on psychiatric patients. I followed the nurse around and helped her with meds and assessments. Many times the patients would come up to the desk with special requests for things they needed and I assisted the tech with these tasks.
